10 Reasons We Might Not Be the Best Fit — And That’s Okay

At Finding Peace in the Poconos, we believe that therapy is most effective when it’s the right match. Just like any relationship, fit matters. We want you to get the support that truly serves you — even if that means we’re not the ones to provide it. Here are a few reasons we might not be the best fit right now:

You’re in Crisis and Need Immediate Support

We’re not a crisis center, and we can’t provide emergency or 24/7 care. If you’re in danger or need urgent help, please reach out to emergency services or a crisis hotline first.

You’re Looking for Medication or a Psychiatric Evaluation

We focus on therapy and emotional wellness — we don’t prescribe medication or offer psychiatric evaluations, but we’re happy to refer you to someone who does.

You’re Hoping for a Quick Fix

Healing takes time. If you’re looking for immediate solutions without space for deeper work, our approach may not feel quite right.

You’re Not Quite Ready to Do the Work

Therapy is a team effort. If now isn’t the right season for exploring your thoughts, feelings, or patterns, we completely understand — and we’ll be here when you are.

You Need a Legal or Court-Ordered Evaluation

We don’t offer custody evaluations, forensic assessments, or court testimony. If that's what you're needing, we can help point you in the right direction.

You’re Looking for a Very Structured or Intensive Program

We offer personalized, flexible therapy — not inpatient, intensive outpatient, or rigidly structured programs.

You’re Hoping We’ll Align With Specific Beliefs

We welcome all backgrounds and beliefs, but we don’t center therapy around any particular political, religious, or cultural perspective. Our focus is you — your values, your growth, your peace.

You Want Us to “Fix” Someone Who Isn’t in the Room

We know how hard it is to watch a loved one struggle. But therapy works best when we focus on the person we’re working with — and that’s you.

You're Looking for a Sliding Scale or Reduced-Fee Spot — and We’re Full

We do offer some lower-fee spots, but availability is limited. If we don’t have one open right now, we’re happy to help you find someone who does.

What You’re Struggling With Is Outside Our Scope

If your main concern involves something we don’t specialize in — like active eating disorders, severe substance use, or court-related issues — we’ll do our best to connect you with a provider who’s better suited for those needs.

Still unsure if we’re the right fit?

We’re happy to answer any questions or help guide you toward the care that’s best for you — even if it’s not with us. Your healing matters.
